The pictures below show several of the ways I combine fabrics and colors to create stripes.

Three simple stripes of even or uneven widths.

Soft green, blue, and gold on ecru dupioni.
Light green and two purples on white dupioni.

Three separate stripes, one color in the middle, flanked by another color symmetrically.

Orange and charcoal on white wool.
Fuchsia and navy on platinum dupioni.

Three stripes attached to each other to form one wide stripe.

Purple, lavender, and silver dupioni on white dupioni.
Cherry, old rose pink, and silver on white dupioni.

One color edged by another color in a symmetrical arrangement, either even widths or one color dominating.

Bright yellow and charcoal grey on white wool.
Royal blue and medium blue on natural raw silk.

A wide stripe made up of different colors in uneven widths.

Teal, peacock, and fuchsia on ivory dupioni.
Dark turquoise, light turquoise, and teal on white dupioni.

Two colors in one stripe, repeating the arrangement.

Dark navy and silver on white wool.
Platinum and royal blue on natural raw silk.

Two colors combined for a wide stripe in the middle, flanked by a third color.

Two lavenders and a light green on white dupioni.
Purple and silver flanked by navy, on natural silk noil.

Five stripes, all separated from each other. The one on the left actually has the black stripes edged with charcoal, and so the total number of stripes is eleven. It just looks like five stripes.

Black, charcoal, and red/black print on white wool.
Red, black, and red/black print on white raw silk.

Stripes don't have to have straight edges. These two were inspired by nature: the boy wanted mountains on his tallit, and the girl wanted something reminding her of the sea shore.

The skyline of the Grand Tetons.
The gentle waves of the Mediterranean.
