Blue, Green, and Purple

I loved working with the rich, eye-popping colors of deep royal blue, deep purple, and moss green dupioni silk on ivory dupioni. This was for a boy who picked out these colors without any hesitation.

This one is sold, but I have more of the fabrics.

White Cotton

Here I started with a small (14x71) cotton shawl with an open weave pattern. The color is winter white, and I just added two slightly different shades of dupioni silk to create the corners and a simple atarah. This tallit would be perfect for the High Holy Days, but also for a woman who just wants a neutral color scheme to make her tallit look good with any outfit. I didn't add any embroidery because I often want to provide a lower cost option, but I have another of these shawls and can make one with embroidery.

This one is now sold, but I can make another one.

Gold, Pink, and White Silk

Having worked a lot with blues and greys, I turned to this delicious-looking combination of gold, pink, and champagne that I had had in mind for a while. The colors and the softly glowing dupioni silk create a very fresh and feminine look.

I like this so much that I'm thinking of doing the same design in different colors, definitely with green where the pink is but otherwise the same.

This one is now sold, but I'm thinking of making the same design in different colors. Blue? Green? Purple?

Blue and White Cotton

This tallit, made of 100% Egyptian cotton, represents a new style for me. I typically applique stripes onto a solid color fabric, but in this fabric the stripes are woven in so that the blue and white show on both sides. The soft weaving gives the shawl a great drape, making it very comfortable to wear. I embroidered the full tallit blessing by hand onto a strip of matching blue dupioni silk and finished the atarah with the same natural Osnaburg cotton that I used for the corners. I am also making a co-ordinating zippered bag.

Size: 18 1/2 x 75 inches, excluding the fringe.

This tallit is now sold, but I have more of the fabric and will make another one.

Classic Black and Silver

I had a piece of off-white wool that I wanted to make into a tallit with a classic, traditional look. The piece was a little short, but when I added a wide band of silk at each end--charcoal, silver, and black on the top side, and a matching off-white silk on the underside--I got to a 76-inch length, which is generous for most men.

I repeated the same colors on the atarah and embroidered the full tallit blessing in silver on black.

This one is now sold, but I can make a similar one, not with the exact fabric for the main piece, but close. Please inquire.

Blueberry Purple

Another new color for my collection of purples. I'm not sure if I should call it a bluish purple, or a purplish blue - the store where I bought it calls it "Blueberry". Whatever the name, it's so pretty I'm sure I'll have to order more of it.

At first I thought I would pair it with another color, perhaps black or silver, but then I decided to let it stand alone against the slightly off-white dupioni silk background.

This one is now sold, but I have more of the fabrics and could make another one.

Blue and White

Another take on the classic blue and white tallit. Here I combined a dark navy shantung silk with a medium blue and a silver dupioni. I originally planned to make this tallit just navy and silver, but when I received this vibrant blue in a recent shipping, I thought it really made the tallit come alive. I repeated the three colors in the atarah, which also has the tallit blessing hand-embroidered in navy. Two narrow silver stripes add interest to the back view. These stripes were actually dictated by the fact that I didn't have a long enough piece of the white to make the tallit, and so I combined two shorter pieces to get to a 72-inch length. The silver hides the seam from sight! I also made a zippered navy bag with a stripe of the blue and silver.
